| Santa Clara Water Ski Club Members Set
Records on GOODE
A
special congratulations goes out to Art Rodrigues, Dave Holder, and
Don Fournier of the Santa Clara Water Ski Club in California. Despite
the fact that their usual practice site was dry this past year, they
managed to break records on their GOODE carbon composite water skis.
Don Fournier of Sunnyvale skis in Men's 6 and made 4@35;
Dave Holder of San Carlos is in Men's 7 and made 4@35;
and Art Rodrigues of San Jose, Men's 8, made 3@35.
These are pending Western Region and "Best of the West"
records. The old records were 2@35 (Men's 6); 3@35
(Men's 7); and 5@32 (Men's 8).

GOODE #1 In Composite Ski Poles Worldwide
While to competitive water skiers "GOODE" is a very
recognizable name, it’s also a big name in alpine skiing. Many water
skiers are surprised to learn that GOODE is #1 in the production of
composite ski poles worldwide. Skiers have discovered why GOODE ski
poles ski great! Recreational skiers, free skiers, bump skiers, telemark
skiers, extreme skiers and racers. Sponsored GOODE athletes including:
Marc Girardelli, Bernhard Knauss, A.J. Kitt, Scott Kauf, Amy Wheeler,
Phil Mahre and Steve Mahre have helped GOODE earn respect both on and
off the race course. GOODE is an official and proud ski pole supplier to
the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and the National Ski
Patrol (NSP). There are approximately 900 GOODE ski pole dealers in the
U.S. and Canada.
Graphite Model- 8602 Features New Carbon/Graphite Shaft
for 1999-2000

GOODE’s popular Graphite Composite pole returns
with a new carbon/graphite shaft and multi density grip. The shaft is
26% lighter than last year’s 8502. It is available in 3 grip options:
Multi with Precision Height Adjustment (PHA); Multi; and Uni-Grip. The
8602 is designed for skiers of all abilities looking for excellent
performance and value ($60-80). Available in four eye-catching color
combinations: Red/Blue; Blue/Yellow; Purple/Yellow; and Yellow/Red.
Here’s what Skiing Magazine recently said about the
new GOODE 8602:
Skiing Magazine, October 1999 (Gear Guide)
By Iseult Devlin
"Forget what you think you know about ski poles:
that they’re all the same (unless you pay a fortune for
super-lightweight shock absorbers), or that if you get
backcountry-oriented telescoping poles, they’ll always end up about
two feet long after several decent pole plants. Like everything else
about winter sports, poles are suddenly highly technical and very
specialized. And, unlike a lot of your ski equipment, poles are actually
getting cheaper. Today’s poles are lighter and slimmer but stronger,
which translates into quicker pole plants with less arm and wrist
fatigue. Even high-end carbon-graphite composites—generally the
lightest and strongest of all—are coming down in price.
Better-thought-out locking devices have improved the reliability of
adjustable-length poles, and nifty innovations like interchangeable
baskets and ergonomically designed grips are boosting versatility. And,
finally...did we mention that poles are getting cheaper? Here are five
specialty poles that represent what’s out there.
WORKING-CLASS COMPOSITE
Goode 8602 $60–$80
WEIGHT: 16.3 ounces (per pair)
NUTSHELL: Not quite pencil thin (12.7-mm diameter), the
8602 offers lightweight graphite- composite construction at an
affordable price.
FEEL: A lightweight touch with nice shock-absorbing
power.
COOLEST FEATURE: A height-adjustment grip (on the $80
model) allows for fine-tuning pole length by as much as three inches.
COMMENTS: The high-end multi- density grip option has a
six-degree corrective angle for easier, more efficient pole plants. It
can be used with Goode’s Interloc glove system, a grip-and-glove
locking combo that reduces pole-strap hassles. Leather Interloc gloves
are sold separately ($80-$120).

First Shipments of GOODE 8000 Water Skis
Sent to Dealers

Shipments of the new carbon composite GOODE 8000 water
skis have begun to go out to new dealers throughout the U.S. The 8000 is
the first water ski in GOODE’s new Performance Series. This
carbon composite ski is for the high-end recreational, performance
seeking water skier. Introduced at the September "Water Ski
Expo" in Orlando, the GOODE 8000 will only be sold through a select
retail dealer network. The GOODE 8000 derives its pure carbon
construction, shape, and full concave bottom from the 9200 Tournament
Skis. All 8000s will be built with a medium flex. The top of the ski and
bevels will be more rounded than 9200. The 8000 will perform well for
the recreational skier, along with the skier aspiring to ski the course.
Says president Dave Goode, "It’s positioned to outperform all
competitive high-end slalom skis available at retail stores." The
suggested retail price for a blank 8000 with a standard fin box is
$590.00.
