SETTING THE RECORD
STRAIGHT - GOODE IS ALIVE & WELL
Waterford, Mich., October 9, 1998 -- Dave
Goode, President and Founder of GOODE Ski Technologies,
the world's leading manufacturer of CARBON Composite
water skis, made an announcement today to dispel rumors.
"I thought it important to let you know that
there are some negative rumors circulating within the
water ski industry about our company and products. Let me
assure you that they are unfounded and not true. GOODE
water skis continue to dominate tournament water skiing.
The water ski industry is very competitive, and with
GOODE's #1 position in market share for tournament water
skis, the competition is always hopeful we'll
stumble.", GOODE said.
"The 'Wakeboard & Waterski Expo', an industry
trade show, concluded about one month ago and the
rumormongers are at it again. Some individuals are
spreading misinformation and propagating myths about
GOODE Ski Technologies. As president and founder of
GOODE, I'd like to dispel these myths and rumors by
providing you with the facts:
FACT: GOODE is #1 in Performance. Since the
recent introduction of the GOODE 9200, demand for our
skis has never been better. GOODE water skis have been
accepted very well in the tournament water ski market.
Our skis hold both the Men's and Women's World Records.
Nearly 75% of the 1,000 competitors at the '98 U.S.
Nationals skied on GOODE skis. GOODE skis finished first
place in 17 out of 18 slalom divisions at the recent U.S.
Nationals.
FACT: GOODE Ski Technologies is Very Healthy
Financially. While water skis are an important aspect
of our product mix, they acount for only a small
percentage of GOODE's annual revenue. Most of our revenue
is derived from our patented CARBON Composite ski poles.
Our ski poles are sold worldwide and GOODE is the
worldwide market leader in composite poles.
FACT: GOODE Skis are Durable. We just concluded
our fifth year with our skis on the water, and they are
holding up well. There was an isolated foam problem with
some of the 9100's built in June of 1997. This was
corrected immediately and we stand behind all of the skis
we manufacture.
FACT: GOODE Technology Center in Orlando Changes
Directors. Steve Schnitzer is no longer our director
of skiing. Our staff, however, will continue to offer
state-of-the-art training. Kreg Llewellyn, who is ranked
#2 in the world overall, is our interim director. We are
currently seeking a new director. My staff and I look
forward to hosting many more guests in the years to
come."
"It is unfortunate that many rumors are believed
to be fact", adds GOODE. "Each year I hear
unfounded rumors. Some make me laugh, but when they
affect people's perception of our organization, it is no
longer funny. I accept that such rumors and myths are
part of the competative business world. Nevertheless,
when misinformation concerns my current and potential
customers, it's necessary to set the record straight.
