Dawn and I are happy to be home after two weeks of great water ski
competitions, the 2009 World Championships in Calgary, Alberta as well
as the 67th GOODE Water Ski National Championships and the Big DAWG
Finals in West Palm Beach, Florida.
During the Nationals, we "officially" announced several new
products; Karina Nowlan's "Platinum Edition" signature line of skis
and clothing, the new 62.5" 9900SL WIDE RIDE, new stiffer flex options
on all 9900SL, new PowerShell liners and the new GOODE PowerBuoy, with
their debut at the Big DAWG night finals.
With all of the great skiing I watched during the past two weeks,
the most exciting for me was to watch Dawn ski in her first US
Nationals! It actually brought tears to my eyes!
OGDEN, UT - Karina Nowlan stunned the world last fall by tying the
Women's World Slalom Record during her rookie season on the Pro
Tour by running 1 buoy @ 41' off/10.25m.
Karina has a saying; "Look Good. Feel Good. Ski Good."
Karina has been skiing on GOODE Skis and PowerShell Boots for
many years and now has worked with the staff at GOODE to design
her own "Platinum Edition" Safari Series - Tournament Class water
ski, with women in mind.
Karina's "Platinum Edition" Safari Series skis have the same
construction technology as the GOODE 9900SL and the GOODE 9900SL
WIDE RIDE, with her own inspired graphics and revised flex and
rocker patterns.
Karina has also designed a line of after ski wear so you can
look good and feel good off of the water, too!
"Platinum Edition" Safari Series skis are built with GOODE's SL
asymmetric features. There are two skis in each length and flex,
each designed for a specific skier, Right-Foot Forward or
Left-Foot Forward. The "Platinum Edition" Safari Series skis are
made with a premium grade PURE Carbon Fiber construction.
Each "Platinum Edition" ski compensates for the flex and
torsional differences introduced by different skiing styles and
virtually removes the idea of an "Off-Side" turn.
GOODE SKIERS FAVRET AND SHAW, 1st and 2nd IN BIG DAWG
WEST PALM BEACH, FL - Ben Favret (Windermere, FL) won the 2009
O'Brien Big Dawg Slalom Series Night Finals Championship,
presented by Nautiques, for the second consecutive year. He won on
his GOODE 9900SL Friday night, with the course lighted with GOODE
PowerBuoys, at Okeeheelee Park. Marc Shaw (Orlando, FL) finished
in 2nd place on his GOODE 9900SL and PowerShell Boots. Thierry
Malhomme and Scott Larson were 3rd and 4th and Chad Scott finished
in 5th place on his GOODE 9900SL and PowerShell Boots.
50 of the top 34mph/55kph skiers in the world skied twice on
Thursday during the two qualifying rounds. The first round of the
"Sweet-Sixteen" then competed head-to-head in daylight on the
North/South Lake. The competition then moved to the East/West
Lake, where GOODE had prepared a special treat for the skiers and
the spectators for the night finals that would determine the
eventual "Big DAWG".
The
entire water ski course was lit with the GOODE PowerBuoy System.
GOODE PowerBuoys have a 7.5 watt Xenon Bulb in the center of the
buoy which is powered by an underwater battery pack that provides
over 3 hours of illumination. The GOODE PowerBuoy was developed by
Mens 3 National Champion, Jeff Milford (Draper, UT), and GOODE Ski
Technologies.
"It was a great night for water skiing!", said Dave Goode,
President and Founder of GOODE Ski Technologies (Ogden, UT). "The
Big DAWG Finals were a great venue to debut the new GOODE
PowerBuoy System. It was also nice to see the GOODE 9900SL take
1st, 2nd and 5th place in such a competitive field!", continues
Goode. "The entire night finals event took a lot of coordination
by GOODE, the Big DAWG staff, the organizing club and the
officials, but it will certainly set a new standard for spectator
appeal. It looked as if there were over a thousand spectators on
site and an estimated 10,000 fans were viewing on-line during the
live webcast.", continues Goode. "The Big DAWG Night finals, lit
by GOODE PowerBuoys, appeared to be a tremondous success and I am
sure there will be many more night events in the future.",
concludes Goode.

OGDEN, UT - GOODE teamed-up with Intuition to design and build a
Deluxe Heat Moldable Liner specifically designed for the GOODE
PowerShell Boots and water skiing. They are made with ULTRALON
foam which provides for a lightweight/comfortable fit.
The liner has a tongue, instead of an overlap entry, to allow
your foot/ankle the necessary flexing and to also provide control
and support without the requirement for additional ankle
reinforcement. A built in "heel-pocket" helps to hold the heel
down, without the need to over-tighten the buckles.
The new Deluxe Heat Moldable Liners come pre-formed but can be
Heat Molded by a process that requires that the liner be heated up
for a few minutes until the ULTRALON foam is soft and malleable.
Once the liner is ready to be fit, it is put onto the foot and
placed into the boot so that it molds to your foot and the inside
of your boot for more comfort and better performance.
"I just love the new liners", said 34mph World Record Holder
Dave Miller. "They are the best liners that GOODE has ever made!"
The 67th GOODE Water Ski National Championship is the World's
largest three-event water ski tournament and took place August
11-15 at the Ski Club of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach,
Florida.
More than 800 of the nation's top water ski athletes from
across the United States competed for national titles in slalom,
tricks, jumping and overall in their respective age divisions and
the two Open divisions. Advancement to the national championships
is earned through placement on the national rankings' list for
respective divisions.
GOODE Ski Technologies was proud to once again be the Title
Sponsor of the World's largest water ski tournament.
JEFF MILFORD WINS MEN'S 3 ON HIS GOODE 9900SL WIDE RIDE,
POWERSHELL AND POWERVEST
WEST PALM BEACH, FL - It was one year ago that Jeff Milford
(Draper, UT) purchased his GOODE 9900SL, PowerShell 5 Boots and
PowerVest. Three days after Jeff started to use his new GOODE
equipment, he began setting new Personal Bests (PB) in
tournaments. At this year's National Championships, Jeff ran a new
PB and won the extremely competitive Men's 3 National Title by
running 4 buoys@ 39-1/2' off.
Chad Scott finished second riding his GOODE 9900SL and
PowerShell Boots by running 3 buoys @ 39-1/2' off. GOODE Skis
continued to sweep the first 4 places with Jeff Kepchia and Joe
Pound finishing 3rd and 4th.
"I am so happy to win here today as it was only the second
Nationals I have skied in.", said Jeff Milford. "My GOODE 9900SL
WIDE RIDE, PowerShell Boots and PowerVest allowed me to ski a
Personal Best. I could not have done it without them.", Milford
continues. "I also enjoyed working with Dave Goode to develop the
GOODE PowerBuoy that was used in the Big DAWG Finals Friday night.
It has been like living a dream here!", Milford concludes.
