The autumn leaves are now in full color here in Utah, which means
that the summer season is over.
For water skiing, fall is a great time for outstanding
performances. Last weekend, we witnessed Karina Nowlan's World Record
performance and this weekend we watched more great skiing at the Ski
Nautique Big Dawg Finals.
Remember, fall is a great time to test new equipment like the
9800SL, 9900SL, 9900SL WIDE RIDE, PowerVest, and PowerShell 5. The
pressures of the tournament season are behind us and good weather will
be here for a while longer.
WINTER GARDEN, FL - Ben Favret (USA) won the 2008 Ski Nautique Big
Dawg Slalom Series Championships in the exciting head-to-head
finals on Sunday. World famous coach, Chet Raley (USA), finished
2nd, Scott Tynan (USA) was 3rd and Clay Neill (USA) ended up 4th.
Clay Neill injured his ankle while setting a pending M3 and MM
National Record of 3-1/4 buoys @ 41' off and was unable to ski in
the final two rounds.
"Ben Favret has been riding GOODE Skis since the introduction
of the GOODE 9100 - 14 years ago.", said Dave Goode.
"He skied the 9200, 9300 and 9400 when they were announced, but in
2001 or 2002 he migrated back to his old favorite GOODE 9100.",
Goode continues. "Two weeks ago, Ben called me and said that his
old favorite GOODE 9100 had finally 'given up the ghost' at the
Charleston, SC event. I told Ben that this was good news and I
thought he would really like our new 9900SL. Ben is a great skier
and his performance this weekend proves it." Goode concludes.
"Thanks, man!", said an exhausted Ben Favret, talking to Dave
Goode via telephone after his Big Dawg Finals Victory. "Since I
got off of my 9100, I
tried
many skis from many manufacturers and the GOODE 9900SL gave me the
most in what I was looking for.", Favret continues. "I spent part
of last week dialing it in. Last Friday I ran 39-1/2' off on it
and knew I was taking it to the Finals. In fact, I made a small
adjustment after I skied on it on Saturday. Just a little more tip
out and I'll be there.", Favret concludes.
Ben Favret skied on his brand new 67.25" GOODE 9900SL (right)
to victory.
OGDEN, UTAH - Shipments of the new GOODE PowerShell 5 have begun.
The GOODE PowerShell 5 was announced last month at the opening day
of the 2008 GOODE Water Ski National Championships.
The GOODE PowerShell 5 is the next generation of the PowerShell
System and is all new for 2009. The PowerShell 5 features an
internally reinforced lower front boot, micro-adjustable aluminum
"snow ski" style buckles, an aluminum hinge system, non-skid plate
and optional heel lifters for front and back boots.
The internally reinforced lower front boots make the lower
portion of the front boot stiffer, which helps improve angle
behind the boat . The micro-adjustable aluminum "snow ski" style
buckles are feather-light and snap securely in place. There are no
components on the PowerShell 5 that will rust. Heel lifts can
optionally be used depending on desired performance.
GOODE offers a PowerShell 5 upgrade option for skiers currently
owning PowerShell 4 systems to allow them to easily upgrade to the
new system. Contact GOODE's Customer Service department for more
details (1-888-GO-GOODE or 1-801-621-2300).
WINTER GARDEN, FL - The 2008 Big Dawg Series concluded this
weekend at the Isles of Lake Hancock.
The event was the third annual Ski Nautique Big Dawg Slalom
Series Championships. There were three qualifying stops in 2008.
The fourth qualifying stop, scheduled for September 6-7, in
Covington, LA , was cancelled due to Hurricane Gustav.
Dr. Mike Morgan (Odessa, FL) won the 2006 Championships. Greg
Badal (Brentwood, CA) was the defending champion, having won in
2007.
The Big Dawg Series is open to skiers 35 years of age or older
who have not placed in the top 10 in a pro tournament in the past
three years. The Big Dawg slalom tournaments have become popular
among participants over the past three years because the skiers
are not fragmented into divisions, and the winners are declared
after a thrilling head-to-head format.
