Rollins College freshman Michelle Simpson of Texas and sophomore Ty
Oppenlander of Michigan are the 2002 Division 1 National Collegiate
slalom champs. The 2002 National Collegiate Water Ski Championships
were held October 17-19 in Austin, Texas. Both Michelle and Ty compete
on GOODE carbon composite water skis. Women’s slalom champ, Simpson,
skied 2.5 @ 38’ and was named first selection Collegiate
All-American. Oppenlander, the Men’s Division 1 champ, skied 4 @ 38’
and was also named to the All-American Slalom Team.
Both athletes have skied well this season, Michelle finished third
in the US Open (.5 @ 39’), and Ty broke the National Collegiate
Slalom Record (2.25@ 41’). Congratulations Michelle and Ty!
MUGGIASCA 2002 EUROPEAN SLALOM CHAMP

Swiss competitor Kiki Muggiasca recently became the 2002 European
Women’s Slalom Champion in France skiing 1 @ 39.5’. Earlier in the
summer Kiki set a new Swiss national record of 1 @ 39.5’ on her
GOODE water ski.
Explains Kiki, "For me this year is one to remember. I’m
very happy. I also got married in July!"
