GOODE Ski Technologies Named Title Sponsor of the 2000 Water Ski National Championships

World's largest 3-event water ski tournament will be held Aug. 15-19

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - USA Water Ski announced today that GOODE Ski Technologies has been named the title sponsor of the world's largest 3-event water ski tournament, the Water Ski National Championships. The 2000 Goode Water Ski National Championships will take place Aug. 15-19 at Paradise Lakes Estates & Ski West Village in Bakersfield, Calif.

"We take great pride in being the title sponsor for the 2000 GOODE Water Ski National Championships," said Dave Goode, founder and president of GOODE Ski Technologies. "We are pleased to provide sponsorship support to water skiing's largest tournament."

Nearly 1,000 competitors from across the country will compete in 28 age and gender divisions. At the past two national championships, 25 competitors using GOODE skis won first-place medals.

The title sponsorship of the national championships will help provide GOODE with excellent positioning with its core market. More products for tournament skiers are sold at Water Ski Nationals than at any other water skiing event in the world, says Steve Upp, USA Water Ski's director of Marketing

" We are excited to have GOODE Ski Technologies as the title sponsor, its products have been very popular with our membership," Upp said. "The competitive skier is GOODE's strongest customer, so it is a good fit."

Goode, a former U.S. Snow Ski Team member, founded Goode Ski Technologies in 1975. During its first 15 years, the Michigan-based company manufactured and marketed a full line of snow ski accessories. In 1990, GOODE introduced the patented carbon composite Pencil ski pole. Based upon the success of GOODE composite ski poles, the company applied the same technology to the manufacturing of its patented snow and water skis. GOODE introduced its line of pure carbon fiber water skis in 1994. Today, GOODE Ski Technologies is the world leader in carbon composite ski poles, snow and water skis.

USA Water Ski was formed in 1939 as a non-profit organization promoting water skiing in the United States. USA Water Ski is affiliated with the International Water Ski Federation (world governing body) and is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee and Pan-American Sports Organization as the national governing body of competitive water skiing in the United States.
