GTC Water Ski Club Profile

Director of Skiing: Chris Rossi

A native of Vermont, Chris began water skiing at the age of seven. In 1989, he won the US Nationals in the Jr. Boys Division and took 5th place in 1992. At the ’98 US Nationals he was second in Men’s 1 slalom. Chris actually tied for first place, but lost in a run-off. In Bakersfield, CA, at the ’99 US Nationals, he earned another second place medal in Men’s 1 Division. Chris is currently ranked 20th in the world with an average of 1 buoys @ 41’ off and competes on the US Pro Water Ski Tour. A member of "TEAM GOODE", he recently skied his personal best--1 buoy at 41’ off in two record tournaments.

Chris is a graduate of the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando. He skied for UCF for four years, and took 4th place in the Collegiate All-Stars in 1995.

He has skied in every Nationals since 1989. Chris’s accomplishments as a competitive skier are very impressive, and so too are his coaching skills. Under the guidance of former director Steve Schnitzer, Chris has been a coach at the GOODE Technology Center (GTC) in Orlando, Florida since it opened in January of 1998. Visitors to the GTC have praised his excellent communication skills, patience, and knowledge of slalom technique to improve their skiing.
