9800 SLIntroducing the all *NEW* SL Asymmetric Series Tournament Water Ski
Every year I am asked the following question by skiers: "Will GOODE be announcing a new ski prior to the start of the GOODE Water Ski National Championships?" My usual answer is, "I am always working on something new, however, I will only announce a new model if it will perform better than previous models." Over the past 12 months, I have enjoyed watching Regina Jaquess win the US Open on her new 9800; Nick Parsons win his first ever Pro Event in France on his 9800; Chad Scott win the season's first Big Dawg and ski 21 times through 39-1/2' off in tournament rounds (so far this year) on his 9800; and I just finished watching Thomas Degasperi on his 9800 ski 3 @ 41'off after being the only skier to run 39-1/2' in all six rounds of the MasterCraft Pro Event at Skyview, NC. I am now pleased to take the 9800 to the next level, with the introduction of the GOODE 9800SL. The SL Series is a totally NEW** concept in water skis - Asymmetrical in design. I have known for years that in order to build the best performing ski that it must be asymmetrical. Q: Why Asymmetric? A: Because you stand on a slalom water ski with one foot in front of the other, you actually pressure your turns differently. Commonly named; a skier has an "On-Side" and an "Off-Side" turn. You turn your "On-Side" with your back foot and your "Off-Side" with your front foot. The SL Series virtually eliminates the idea of an "Off-Side" turn. Q: How is it Asymmetric? A: The 9800SL outer shape is dimensionally symmetric, however, it flexes differently internally both longitudinally and torsionally. Q: What will I feel when I try the 9800SL for the first time? A: Because the 9800SL is built asymmetric, your turns will actually feel more symmetric. You can dial the ski in to create incredible angle on both of your turning sides. You'll see an improvement on your "Off-Side". If you had your old ski dialed in for a great "Off-Side", then you will see an improvement on your "On-Side" turns. Bottom-line, you will see an increase in your buoy count. Q: Why is it called the "SL Series"? A: During our development phase, we called it "SL", which was an abbreviation for "Super-Light", as the SL Series skis are about 1/4 lb lighter than the original 9800. Also, we found that the ski worked great for those skiers at "Short-Line". "SL" is also short for Slalom. Hence, the name "SL" stuck. The word "Series" was introduced because there are three skis in the "SL" Line-Up. Asymmetric Left Foot Forward, Asymmetric Right Foot Forward and Neutral, for skiers who may want to share a ski or have somehow already compensated in their ski set-up. Q: How can I try a 9800SL? A: You can click here to order on-line, or call Toll Free 1-888-GO-GOODE or 801-621-2300 and press 1 to place an order. We have a Demo Program outlined for you. Skis will be shipped in the order the orders were received. Earlier this year, I skied a prototype of the 9800SL in a Record Tournament and skied the best I have since 2002, and it was my second "best-ever" record tournament score, 1 @ 39-1/2'. The 9800SL has helped me and I'd like to show you what it can do for you. Thank you for choosing GOODE!
GOODE SKI TECHNOLOGIES **In the late 1970's, I tested a ski built by Bob and Kris LaPoint under the brand name of MasterCraft and was called the Radius. It had an asymmetric outer shape. The idea was good, but it did not ski well. Also, during the 1990's, I remember watching legend Andy Mapple ski and win on a highly asymmetrical ski that was custom built for him by Kris LaPoint. |
